Computer checks weather.com for weather, and sends status to USB port.
USB port has a device on it that can do USB->RF, which broadcasts data.

On other side is a RF listener that makes a display show the weather. The
display is sheets of transparent acrylic lined up with etchings in them.
The etchings are of a sun or rain clouds, etc.. and it had leds under the
acrylic that shine up the light up the etchings.

Then we we either do LEDs or nixie tubes for the current temperature and the
wind speed.

You can put this display on desk or by clock near bed. Computer can be far
away, even in a diff room.
